The TBC network comprises academics and industrialists who have active research interests in thermal barrier coatings.

HELSMAC (HELmholtz Symposium on Materials and Coatings for High Temperature) was focussed on processing, microstructure and performance of advanced materials and coatings designed for use in highly demanding environments, particularly at high temperature. It was supported by the Helmholtz Association, chaired by Bill Clyne, Olivier Guillon and Robert Vassen and held in Downing College, Cambridge on 7th and 8th April 2016. Available here are the Symposium brochure (giving some background information, the oral and poster programmes and the abstracts of all presentations), plus the presentations themselves (from those authors who have provided them) and the Symposium Group Photo (with names).

A 30 year reunion for past and present members of the Composites and Coatings Group. Attendance at this Symposium is by invitation only. It will take place in the Howard Lecture Theatre in Downing College, Cambridge, on Friday 25th August 2017, from 9am to 5pm, followed by a dinner in the College. Presentations will cover work done by Alumni and current members of the Composites and Coatings Group in the Gordon Laboratory of the Department of Materials Science in Cambridge, over the 30 years since the group was first formed. The coverage of these talks will thus be very broad. There will also be associated activities over the following two days.
